We wanted to provide a calendar space for organizing trips out, it’s easy to vaguely plan to help out sometime next summer only to realize too late that you’re all booked up. So this is a way to put that intention into a tangible form, to save a date and commit yourself for a week or two, but it’s just your name on a calendar, there’s no penalty for cancellation, just erase it if things work out differently.
If you’re intent on getting out here, you’ll make it, and probably at the exact most opportune time, that’s how it goes with this way of life. Our entire project is going to ebb and flow by the moment, the rotational crew of fresh energies and new ideas will fit right into our floating schedule of construction, plus there’s whatever materials the salvage fairy brings us. Out here, “go with the flow” is a way of life.
We also wanted to set it up so that the calendar could help facilitate ridesharing. Plenty of people would love to come help but don’t have dependable transportation, and others would drive out but it doesn’t make sense to travel alone, well here you go. If you’re thinking to head this way, create an event on the calendar with your tentative departure date and location, and there’ll be a message board for if you’re looking for a ride.
